Campaigners have taken to the streets of Athlone today calling on the Minister for Justice, Michael McDowell, to reunite two Nigerian mothers, who were deported from Ireland last month, with their families.

Campaigners have taken to the streets of Athlone today calling on the Minister for Justice, Michael McDowell, to reunite two Nigerian mothers, who were deported from Ireland last month, with their families.

The children were left behind in Athlone where they have been in hiding since their departure.

Five hundred people, including the leader of the Seanad, Mary O' Rourke and Socialist TD Joe Higgins, turned out to support the street protest.
