The Government has reportedly threatened to withhold funding from state transport companies if they fail to meet new targets on punctuality, frequency and cleanliness.

Reports this morning said Transport Minister Martin Cullen was already drawing up plans to link funding for Iarnród Éireann to the rail company’s performance.
