Revenue to launch tax probe spanning 25 years

Revenue is to launch a major investigation into undisclosed tax liabilities from investments in life assurance products over the last 25 years, it emerged today.

Those targeted have been given six weeks to indicate they will make a full voluntary disclosure of the tax they owe in a move which is expected to net the Exchequer hundreds of millions of euro.
