National Farm Safety Week begins

Safety in agriculture is due to come under the spotlight this week as National Farm Safety Week gets underway.

The campaign is due to focus on four main areas - safety for the elderly, completion of farm safety self-assessment programmes, tractor maintenance and machine guarding.

The Health and Safety Authority said 14 people died in agriculture-related accidents last year and five fatalities have also been recorded so far this year.
