Father and son drown in Clare quarry
A 41-year-old man and his 12-year-old son have drowned in an accident at a quarry in Co Clare.
The tragedy happened shortly after 6.30pm yesterday at Aylroe, near Kildysart.
The 12-year-old is believed to have slipped and fallen into the water at the quarry, while his father is believed to have jumped in to try to rescue him.
Their bodies were recovered around an hour later by divers from Kilkee Search and Rescue and members of an Athlone sub-aqua club who were training in the area.
