HSE 'confident' that A&E crisis will improve

The Health Service Executive (HSE) has said that it is confident the A&E situation will improve.

It has been working on the implementation of the 10-point €70m plan to alleviate the pressure in the emergency departments.

Some measures are aimed at minimising the need for people to go to A&E and others at freeing up beds.

The Irish Nurses Organisation earlier claimed the situation was worsening with more people waiting for treatment on beds.

HSE spokesperson Maureen Browne said that changes would take time to implement.
