Hundreds of thousands of people will take part in parades at home and abroad in celebration of our patron saint.

The organisers of the parade in Cork say the event has been re-invigorated for the city's year as European Capital of Culture.

The country's biggest parade will take place in Dublin with 3,000 participants.
