Combat Poverty calls for fairer distribution of wealth
The Government's Combat Poverty Agency has called for a fairer distribution of wealth in order to address on-going poverty.
The agency said many people, including the unemployed, the low-paid, lone parents, the disabled and the elderly, were still at risk of poverty despite the economic boom of recent years.
CPA director Helen Johnson said: "We need to put in place particular initiatives to support those people, either back into the workforce if that's appropriate or to support them on an adequate level of income.
Ms Johnson was speaking at the launch of a three-year anti-poverty strategy that that the agency wants the Government to implement.
