A study commissioned by the Department of Justice has reportedly recommended that sex offenders be given special privileges in prison if they agree to participate in treatment programmes.

Reports this morning said the study by two UCD-based psychologists recommended that temporary release and transfers to open prison be offered as incentives to sex offenders who undergo treatment.
