A new minor injury service is to be established by the VHI that would enable fee-paying patients to receive many forms of emergency treatments within an hour.

In a submission to the Department of Health, the VHI said that the new Minor Injury Units (MIUs) would provide an alternative to queuing in a public hospital's A & E Department.
