Cork rail services resume as NBRU ends unofficial strike

Rail services to and from Cork are getting back to normal following a decision by the National Bus and Railworkers Unions to call off unofficial strike action.

NBRU members in Cork began the action this morning in protest at the disciplining of a number of its members in relation to "a minor dispute" that happened last Tuesday evening.

The union claimed local management in Cork had reneged on an agreement with head office not to take any disciplinary action pending the outcome of a meeting this morning.

However, Iarnród Éireann had insisted it was using agreed disciplinary procedures and was trying to address the issues arising from last Tuesday's dispute.

The unofficial action led to the cancellation of all commuter services around Cork this morning, as well as trains to Dublin and Tralee.
