Husband and wife killed in house fire near Tubbercurry

A husband and wife have died in a fire at their home near Tubbercurry in Co Sligo this morning.

The blaze broke out in the Achonry area shortly after midnight.

The cause of the fire is not known, but gardaí have sealed off the scene pending technical examination later today.

The dead couple’s names are also being withheld until all next of kin are informed, but locals said they were from the UK and had been living in the area for around six months.
