A man was arrested tonight on suspicion of attempted murder and robbery in connection with a hit-and-run in Belfast city centre.

A man was arrested tonight on suspicion of attempted murder and robbery in connection with a hit-and-run in Belfast city centre.

The man who went into Musgrave Street Police Station accompanied by his solicitor, is being questioned by detectives investigating the hit-and-run in Academy Street in last Tuesday.

The incident happened at a car park owned by Belfast Education and Library Board. A car which was stolen with a woman still inside, knocked down a man who tried to stop the robber.

The victim suffered serious head injuries and is still recovering in hospital. The car owner was ordered out of the vehicle at nearby Dunbar Link. The vehicle was later found burned out at Upper Springfield Road in west Belfast.
