Off-License Association rejects opening hours suggestion
The National Off-License Association has rejected a suggestion from Dublin's Lord Mayor that they should stay shut on St Patrick's Day until 6pm.
Michael Conaghan expressed concern about anti-social behaviour in public places on our national holiday and suggested limiting trading hours for off-licences.
The association has said it is essentially a policing issue, and closing off-licenses would not serve any meaningful purpose.
The association has said it would result in punishing responsible customers.
