Anti-war group protests at Irish Embassy in London

A small number of anti-war demonstrators have mounted a protest at the Irish Embassy in London in solidarity with Irish peace activists facing trial for damaging a US warplane at Shannon Airport.

The protestors have chained themselves inside and outside the building to highlight the case of five members of the Catholic Worker Movement who "disarmed" the plane in February 2003.

The five are due to go on trial next week and could be jailed for up to 10 years.

Today's demonstrators said the action was designed to uphold international law and prevent Irish complicity in the US/British invasion of Iraq.
