An Post card campaign to raise €160,000 for charity

An Post today launched a collection of six postage-paid St Patrick’s Day cards which will raise €160,000 for charity.

The collection includes two greeting cards featuring specially-commissioned designs by John Rocha and Graham Knuttel.

The cards will go on sale in 1,450 post offices nationwide from this Thursday, February 17, priced at €2.70 for a greeting card (including envelope and postage paid to anywhere in the world) and €1.80 for postcards including postage.

Since the first collection of St Patrick’s Day greeting cards in 1986, An Post has sold more than 15m cards and it is estimated that over 400,000 cards will be sent from Ireland to the rest of the world this year.

Two charities, The Chernobyl Children’s Project and Sports Against Racism In Ireland, chosen respectively by Knuttel and Rocha, will share the proceeds of a 50c donation from every card sold.

It is estimated that each charity will receive up to €80,000.
