SFI chief appointed to Royal Irish Academy
Science Foundation Ireland (SFI) director general Dr William C Harris was appointed a member of the Royal Irish Academy at a ceremony last night in Academy House in Dublin.
Dr Harris joins a membership of leading names in Irish sciences and humanities, including former president Mary Robinson and poet Seamus Heaney.
Membership of the Academy is by election and is open to people who have attained distinction in sciences or other branches of scholarship, as evidenced by their published work. Candidates are proposed and recommended by five or more members.
