Post mortem due on body discovered in Clare

A post mortem will be carried out later today by the Deputy State Pathologist Dr Michael Curtin on the body of a man discovered in a field in Co Clare yesterday.

A post mortem will be carried out later today by the Deputy State Pathologist Dr Michael Curtin on the body of a man discovered in a field in Co Clare yesterday.

The discovery was made by a local farmer in a field at around 3pm yesterday afternoon in an area called Porteruane, six miles from Ennis.

The scene was cordoned off and a technical examination was carried out.

The dead man, who had sustained extensive head injuries, has not yet been identified.

Gardaí in Co Clare have said that they are treating the death as suspicious.
