Pan European Communications said today that the closure was necessary due to mounting losses and difficult trading conditions.

The company has been operating in the Shannon Free Zone since 1998.

Shannon Development has expressed disappointment at today's announcement, saying it had worked with local managers on a restructuring plan that was rejected by the parent company.
