Postmasters lobby for better pay

Postmasters have been lobbying Oireachtas members on the issue of low pay.

Around 100 TDs and Senators of all parties were invited to meet representatives of the Irish Postmasters Union at a hotel in Dublin.

They were told that postmasters earn, on average, less than €13,000 a year.

The IPU has said up to 800 sub-post offices are in danger of closing if they do not receive subsidies from the Government.
