HSA to highlight need for improved workplace safety in Cork
The chief executive of the Health and Safety Authority is visiting Cork today to highlight the need for improved workplace safety.
The authority said four people had died in workplace accidents in Cork last month, which is more than the county's entire fatalities for 2004.
HSA chief executive Tom Beegan is due to urge employers and workers in the county to redouble their efforts to improve safety during his visit to the area today.
The HSA is planning to increase its inspections in Cork over the coming weeks in an effort to reduce the number of accidents, while safety information campaigns have also been arranged by a number of organisations.
