A study of equality of opportunity in the Northern Ireland labour market is to be carried out, it was announced by the British government today.

It follows claims by unionist politicians that Protestants now face inequality in the jobs market.

Northern Ireland Equality Minister, John Spellar, said further research would be carried out into changing patterns of inequality in the North's labour market.
