Army diffuse suspect device in Tipperary
A suspect device found in Co Tipperary this afternoon has been made safe by Army bomb disposal experts.
The alarm was raised when a suspicious package was spotted beside a telephone kiosk in the village of Ballycahill near Thurles around lunchtime.
An Army spokesperson says the “improvised” device contained explosive materials and “could have caused serious damage” if it had gone off.
The package has now been handed over to gardaí for forensic examination.
