ESB threatened with strike action

ESB workers have threatened to engage in unofficial industrial action within three weeks in a row over the position of a worker director in the company.

Reports this morning said the threat had been issued due to a dispute over the position of ESB deputy chairman and worker director Joe LaCumbre.

Mr La Cumbre has claimed he was forced out of the position following a row with the chairman, Tadhg O'Donoghue, over employee pension funds.

Mr LaCumbre's union, the TEEU, has reportedly vowed to support him through "whatever action is required".

Sources at the union said this would mean rolling industrial action at selected locations from February 22 unless the situation has been resolved.
