Gardaí planning walk-out over state of Finglas station

Seventy-five gardaí based at Finglas station in Dublin are planning to stage a walk-out next month in protest at the dilapidated state of the building.

The gardaí have vowed not to report for duty at the station from March 1 due to the unsuitability of the premises.

The GRA said the 75 officers would instead report to Cabra station.

Speaking about the matter today, Labour Party TD Róisín Shortall said she supported the planned walk-out as gardaí at the station had been campaigning for improvements for 20 years.

Ms Shortall said the station had no female bathrooms and no CCTV system.

She also said rodents had been spotted in the building and that a lack of privacy made it an inappropriate place for the public to interface with gardaí.
