Gardaí identify dead man taken from Shannon

The dead man who was pulled from the River Shannon yesterday has been identified as John McLaughlin from Macken near Leitrim Village.

The 40-year- old single man has been missing for over a month.

A passer by spotted his body in the Shannon at Drumshanbo at around 4.30pm yesterday.

A post mortem will take place tomorrow morning.

Gardaí say they are not treating his death as suspicious.
