Strike threat lifted at An Post

The threat of disruption to postal services has been lifted.

The Communications Workers Union has agreed to defer industrial action after the intervention of the National Implementation Body.

The NIB called for the 68 suspended SDS workers to be reinstated, and for the union to call off the threat of disruption.

An Post has yet to issue its response, but a statement is expected shortly.

Steve Fitzpatrick of the CWU has said the ball is in An Post's court now.

“Well, the National Executive Council have decided to accept the recommendations of the national implementation body in full with no preconditions we obviously expect the company to take the same decision.”

“That means lifting all the suspensions and going to the Labour Relations Commission as soon as they are ready to talk to us”
