Labour lashes Govt infrastructure record
The Labour Party has slammed the Government's record on infrastructural development in recent years.
Earlier today, the Institution of Engineers of Ireland warned that the National Development Plan would run seven years beyond its original completion date of 2006 unless addition funding was provided by the Government.
Responding to the IEI warning, Labour spokesman Eamon Gilmore said the Government had failed to provide the necessary infrastructure in tandem with recent high levels of economic growth.
"There has been dither and delay, they don't know what they're doing and they are now way behind in terms of years and in terms of cost of the infrastructure programme they themselves drew up," Deputy Gilmore said.
