IFA donates €100k to Asian tsunami disaster appeal

The Irish Farmers Association has donated €100,000 to the victims of the St Stephen's Day tsunami disaster in the Indian Ocean.

The association said today that the money, which came from its own funds, had been donated to Concern, GOAL and Christian Aid.

The IFA said it hoped the money would be spent to help farmers and fishermen whose livelihoods were devastated by the December 26th tsunami.

The giant tidal wave killed more than 175,000 people in 11 countries from Malaysia to the east coast of Africa and left millions more needing food, water, medicines and other aid.
