Dormant accounts body announces €12m in community grants
The government body set up to distribute money in dormant bank accounts to good causes has announced €12m in grant allocations to various community projects around the country.
The biggest grant of almost €800,000 has been awarded to a community centre in Ballywaltrim, Co Wicklow.
The Cork Simon Community and the National Council for the Blind have also been given grants running into hundreds of thousands of euro.
The Dormant Accounts Fund Disbursements Board was set up to redistribute money from bank accounts that have lain dormant for several years.
