Sri Lanka Trust asks Hume to become patron

Noble prize winner John Hume has been asked to become the patron of the Irish-Sri Lanka Trust Fund.

It has been set up to raise money for the victims of the Asia tsunami disaster which has claimed the lives of up to 30,000 people in Sri Lanka alone.

Hundreds of thousands have been displaced there and efforts are ongoing to get aid to worst affected areas.
