Hillwalker who died in Carrauntoohill fall named

The hillwalker who fell to his death in the MacGillicuddy Reeks in Co Kerry yesterday has been named as Gerry O'Connor.

Mr O'Connor, in his 40s and from Cork, died after falling while descending Carrauntoohill. His body was recovered by rescuers searching for 22-year-old Swedish man, Olaf Jansenn, who has been missing in the mountains for the past week.

Kerry Mountain Rescue called off the search last night, but has asked walkers and farmers in the area to keep an eye out for the young man, who hasn't been seen since last Tuesday.
