Garda vehicle crashes into pub

An unmarked garda car collided at speed with a pub on Dublin’s north side.

The Ford Mondeo vehicle crashed into the front door of The Tap premises on North King Street, at around 2am today.

It is believed that two plain clothes detectives were in pursuit of another car when the incident occurred.

A garda spokesman said that the officers sustained minor injuries and were treated in hospital but nobody else was injured.

The popular neighbourhood bar was being emptied at the time and some people were outside on the footpath.

“We are investigating the incident as a road traffic accident,” the garda spokesman added.
