New Year babies ring in 2005

The Coombe hospital in Dublin has announced its first birth of the year at 30 seconds past midnight.

The baby girl weighed in at 4lbs 11oz.

Over at the National Maternity Hospital in Holles Street, Dublin, David Jankauskaite was born at the at one second past midnight.

He weighed 7lbs 1oz.
