Family Income Supplement to reach almost 15,000 families

The Department of Social Affairs has said that more than 14,500 families, including over 30,000 children, will directly benefit from the new Family Income Supplements that take effect next month.

The Department of Social Affairs has said that more than 14,500 families, including over 30,000 children, will directly benefit from the new Family Income Supplements that take effect next month.

The increases of €39 in the weekly income thresholds will add an extra €23.40 to the weekly payments of almost all existing FIS recipients.

The threshold increase announced in the Budget also means that over 2,600 families will become eligible for payment of Family Income Supplement.

Next month will also bring a €14 per week increase in the minimum rate of maternity benefit.
