In the north, a man has been found dead following the death of a four-year-old boy in a hit-and-run accident.

In the north, a man has been found dead following the death of a four-year-old boy in a hit-and-run accident.

Police discovered the body of a 22-year-old man after they were called to a quarry near Donemana, Co Tyrone last night.

Earlier, the four-year-old and his mother were struck by a white Peugeot car that had mounted the pavement close to Allen Park, Donemana.

The child later died and his mother was taken to hospital suffering from serious but not life-threatening injuries.

Police are no longer looking for the driver of the car.
