Shoppers in Dublin city centre are complaining that there are very few places to sit down and enjoy a cup of tea since the closure of Bewleys' cafes.

Shoppers in Dublin city centre are complaining that there are very few places to sit down and enjoy a cup of tea since the closure of Bewleys' cafes.

About 23,000 have signed a petition calling for the reopening of the historic cafes. Dublin City Council has unanimously backed a motion to bring back the Grafton Street and Westmoreland Street outlets.

Damien Cassidy of the Save Bewleys' Cafe group says they'll be looking for more signatories this evening.
