Woman dies as car collides with truck

A woman in her early 40s has died after the car she was driving collided with a parked truck in Co Tipperary this morning.

The dead woman's 19-year-old daughter, who was a front-seat passenger in the car, was also seriously injured.

The accident happened on the Templemore Road near Thurles at around 1.30am.

The victims are believed to be from the Templemore area.

The accident brings the death toll on Ireland's roads so far this year to 376, an increase of 40 on the figures for all of 2003.
