Taoiseach defends ‘goodwill’ payments to care home residents

The Taoiseach has defended the Government's controversial plan to pay €2,000 each to 20,000 people in residential homes who were illegally charged for their care.

The payments are being made as part of legislation being rushed through the Dáil to make such charges lawful.
