The Minister for Justice Micheal McDowell has announced that new measures will be introduced to allow certain foreign parents of Irish born children to legally remain in the country.

Under a Supreme Court ruling last year children of foreign parents born here can obtain Irish citizenship when they become 18. However, their parents have no right to stay in this country.
