Goodman to be quizzed about Lawlor’s role in land deal

Beef baron Larry Goodman is due to be questioned about a controversial land deal in west Dublin when he appears before the Mahon Tribunal today.

Mr Goodman has supplied documents to the tribunal showing that former Fianna Fáil TD Liam Lawlor was involved in the purchase of land at Coolamber, near Lucan, in 1987, along with businessman Jim Kennedy and solicitor John Caldwell.

Mr Lawlor has repeatedly denied any involvement in the deal. The documents supplied to the tribunal show that the former Fianna Fáil TD received a loan from Mr Goodman for the purchase of the land.

The documents show that the loan was channelled through one of Mr Lawlor’s companies, Advance Proteins, and that Mr Lawlor was subsequently allocated a 25% share of the Coolamber land.
