For years the Old Bushmills Distillery has been lauded for its whiskey – today it was hailed for its loos.

The public toilets in the visitor centre at the world’s oldest licensed distillery were declared the individual UK winner in the British Toilet Association UK Loo of the Year competition.

The prize was one of the major awards among 38 categories announced at a ceremony held in the National Motorcycle Museum in Solihull in England.

It was the second year the Co Antrim firm had won an award and they were “delighted” said John Callely, chief executive of Irish Whiskey Visitor Centres.
