The SDLP has condemned a suspected racist attack on three Polish nationals in a pub in Derry over the weekend.

One of the victims had his face slashed during the attack in the pub on Dungiven Road, which happened at around 3.20am yesterday.

A gang of up to four men is believed to have smashed a glass into the victim's face, causing injuries that needed 13 stitches.

Another of the Poles suffered a suspected broken nose in the incident, which the PSNI is treating as racist.

SDLP Assemblyman Pat Ramsey has described the assault as shocking and has called for the people responsible for on-going racist attacks to be marginalised by the rest of the community.
