The Irish Family Planning Association is launching an emergency contraception service today.

For the first time, clinics in the capital will open their doors on Sundays.

It is hoped that the service will help combat the rising number of unplanned pregnancies.

Rosie Toner, Director of Pregnancy Counselling with the group, said that it was launched to coincide with the Christmas season and also “as there is no availability of service on a Sunday we’re opening so that we can meet that demand”.
