FG calls for 'surgeon general'

A US-style surgeon general should be appointed in Ireland to reform the national healthcare system, it was claimed today.

Fine Gael MEP Gay Mitchell made the call after recent hospital ward closures in the wake of the vomiting virus and the MRSA superbug.
