Initiative launched to attract Dubliners to west
The Western Development Commission (WDC) has launched an initiative to attract people from the Greater Dublin area to the seven western counties.
The commission said today that the west had many advantages over the Dublin region and that people living there enjoyed a higher quality of life.
It said the advantages of counties in the WDC region included shorter commuting times, lower house prices and rents, greater natural beauty and cheaper food, drink and childcare.
The commission said people wishing to set up a business could also enjoy higher levels of state aid in the west than they could in areas around Dublin.
