Govt announces €12.5m funding for college building works

The Department of Education has announced €12.5m in funding for minor capital works at Institutes of Technology across the country.

Announcing the move last night, Education Minister Mary Hanafin said: "I think it's very important that our students should not only have top-class teachers, but should have top-class facilities as well.

"Some of our campuses are very new - there are wonderful new campuses for example in Thurles and Tallaght - but some of them are a lot older than that and they need to be maintained."
