Mackey appeal against sentence severity dismissed

A man who claimed his two-year sentence for violent disorder, in a brawl in which a student died, was too severe today had his appeal dismissed.

The Court of Criminal Appeal in Dublin ruled the trial judge at the original hearing had reached a just and fair balance in imposing sentence.
