RPA to review LUAS signage
The Rail Procurement Agency (RPS) is to review signage at intersections on the new LUAS system in Dublin in an effort to reduce the number of collisions involving the trams.
The decision was announced at a meeting of the Oireachtas transport committee this morning, when LUAS officials faced questions about the number of accidents involving the trams since they became operational in June.
Speaking after the announcement, Progressive Democrats Senator Tom Morrissey, a member of the committee, said the accidents showed that existing signage was inadequate.
He also said areas where LUAS lines intersect with roads should be painted with distinctive markings in the same way that some Quality Bus Corridors in the capital are.
