Almost 70% of "new rural residents" in Ireland have settled less than 20 miles from where they were raised, according to a survey commissioned by the farm group Agri Aware.

Almost 70% of "new rural residents" in Ireland have settled less than 20 miles from where they were raised, according to a survey commissioned by the farm group Agri Aware.

The organisation said the survey, which involved 450 people in Meath, Kilkenny and Clare, also found that less than 10% of rural dwellers opposed current levels of housing development in their areas.
